Animal Care
Volunteers help with animal cleaning, feeding, socializing, and other care for our dogs, cats and small animals.
Dogs - Each dog gets fed twice a day and needs minimum three walks a day; most days we try to give them five walks. Walks take about 10 minutes. Because that is 30 to 50 minutes for each dog, we can shelter only as many dogs as we have volunteers to care for them. Besides exercising and socializing, each dog must have its kennel, bowls, toys, and blankets washed and cleaned daily.
Cats - Cats need cuddling and the cattery needs cleaning daily.
Office Work
We need help at the front desk, and/or from your home desk! We also opened a Thrift Store recently in East Sonora, and are in great need of retail help there, as well as sorting, organizing, and pricing the donations that come into our store. These are just a few opportunities and with as little as one hour a week you can make a difference in the life of a companion animal.
At Home Jobs
EBAY helpers- This would include picking up items from the shelter in Jamestown at your convenience, listing them on EBAY within 2 weeks, and getting them back to the shelter before the auction closes. EBAY Training is provided if you've never done it before. We get items donated to our shelter strictly FOR eBAy, from people who want to help. We also pull eBay items from our thrift store in East Sonora. Sometimes people donate high value items there.
NETWORKING- This includes flier distribution regarding upcoming events and things that involve our shelter! INCLUDING OUR NEWSLETTER and pet of the week fliers, etc... We are in dire need of people to spread our newsletter out all over the county!!!
GRANT SEEKING- We are looking for people to help us find grants to apply for that are specifically for animal shelters, spay/neuter programs, etc... People who wish to WRITE grants are encouraged to do so as well, however they must be approved by our board before submission.
RAFFLE/AUCTION Prize Seeking- This involves picking one of our many upcoming events(dog walk in may, BBQ in May, Brunch in March, Golf Tournament in September, etc... and soliciting businesses to get items for that event that we can use in either a silent auction or raffle during that event. If you are interested in this, I would assign you to one specific event. This includes writing letters, emails, and making phone calls(follow up).
SPONSOR Seeking- This is almost like the above, but instead calling and emailing businesses(nationally, even) to sponsor a particular event that we have upcoming.
