We
make available
a county-wide
program providing
help to the public
for the spaying/neutering
of their companion
animals, thus
reducing the
number of unwanted
animals. This
is done as a
monthly distribution
of spay/neuter
vouchers on the
first working
Monday of the
month. |

SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance
Program) for cat owners is
a new low cost spay/neuter
program held the last week
of each month. Assistance
is for households with an
annual income under $19,000.
For more information, please
call the Humane Society at
209-984-5489 for Animal Control
at 209-984-1338.
We are very active in the
Humane Education of children
and adults in our community.
We distribute 750 copies
of an education newsletter,
have newspaper articles in
three local papers, and info
booths at county events.
We travel to schools, libraries,
adult organization, etc teaching
people of all ages responsible
pet care and respect for
life. Tours of our shelter,
along with classes in Humane
Education, can be arranged
by calling the Humane Society
at 209-984-5489. There is
NO CHARGE to the public for
these classes.
During a local emergency,
we assist Animal Control
by taking care of some of
the animals brought in to
them until the emergency
passes. There is a volunteer
team in place to act quickly
to care for, feed, shelter,
provide bedding and emotional
support during crisis.

GOOD
NEWS: HSTC
found homes
for over
500 companion
animals during
the 2004-2005
fiscal year!
Before
becoming available
for adoption,
all dogs and
cats arriving
at the shelter
from Animal Control
are tested, vaccinated
and spayed or
neutered to insure
healthy animals.
Every
animal is evaluated
prior to adoption.
Our goal is to
match animals
with compatible
households (i.e.
young children,
other pets) to
ensure successful
adoptions.
Prospective
owners MUST realize
the serious commitment
of adopting a
dog or cat. That
commitment lasts
for the life-time
of the animal.
An
adoption contract
is submitted
to the shelter
whereby the new
owner agrees
to provide clean
food, water,
and shelter,
kind treatment,
as well as being
responsible for
vaccinations
and medical care.
There
are other items
in the contract
to insure a safe
and happy adoption
for both the
animal and owner. |
